Βlue Economy Connect (BEC) is a youth-led initiative championing youth opportunities, innovation, & leadership in advancing Africa’s blue economy (ocean, water, and related sectors).

We believe that, in an enabling environment & with the right empowerment, the youth can build the capacity to meet their own needs & the evolving demands of the sector: innovating & leading the sustainable transformation.

WHAT WE DO

Capacity Building

Providing training workshops, webinars, and mentorship programs to equip youth (especially students) with industry-relevant skills.

Environmental & Social Impact

Engaging in environmental & community-impacting projects alongside research & policy advocacy.

Opportunity Sharing

A multi-stakeholder platform led by the UN Global Compact & Lloyd’s Register Foundation. BEC is an official member, to empower youth participation in sustainable ocean governance

Chamber of Aquaculture

CoA advances aquaculture development & private sector growth in Ghana. BEC partners with the Chamber to strengthen youth inclusion, innovation, and capacity-building in aquaculture

Fisheries Commission

The FC is the government agency that oversees all fisheries & aquaculture development. BEC collaborates with the FC to ensure proper implementation & national alignment of relevant projects

AAORIA

BEC is collaborating with AAORIA on the Blue Intergenerational Programme & the Coastal Resilience Project.

OPJEB

BEC is OPJEB’s Ghana representative in implementing its projects under the WASOP Call for Projects.
