BEC is championing youth leadership and innovation in Ghana & Africa's Blue Economy. In less than a year, we have built a platform that has brought together over 50 youth leaders & innovators across different sectors of the blue economy, gaining 4500+ LinkedIn followers.
From Research, Capacity Building & Opportunity-sharing, Policy Advocacy, Entrepreneurial Development, Industry Engagement & Collaborations, and Environmental & Community Impact Projects, we are committed to one mission: Elevating Africa's Blue Economy
Across our 5 task teams, we have 30 dedicated youth leaders (from different sectors of the blue economy & with solid experiences: PhDs, Master's, work across the UN, FAO, IUCN, AU-IBAR, IMO, EJF, etc.). We also have 8 expert advisors/ mentors.
BLUE ECONOMY CONNECT (BEC) is the leading platform for youth engagement, innovation, and leadership in Ghana and Africa’s blue economy, driving impactful collaborations and entrepreneurial success, creating pathways for career advancement, and championing policy impact & sustainable development.
We are committed to enabling the youth (capacity & opportunities) and ensuring that they play a central role (innovation, co-creation, and leadership) in shaping policies, advancing research, and developing solutions that drive a thriving, inclusive, and resilient blue economy (ocean, water resources, and related environmental sectors).
Providing practical training, workshops, and mentorship programs to equip youth and early-career professionals with industry-relevant skills in the blue economy.
Designing and implementing community-driven & climate-smart projects that address environmental challenges, restore ecosystems, and create sustainable livelihoods, particularly in coastal and vulnerable communities.
Through our Opportunities Thursday initiative, we have shared over 300+ jobs, scholarships, internships, grants (check 'Opportunities').
Spotlighting youth-led innovations, providing (access to) needed support, including collaborating on designing key industry-relevant innovations.
Championing peer-to-peer, cross-sectoral, and early-career-to-expert, and overall, youth-to-industry connections & co-creation.
Strategic advocacy through generating, translating, and scaling our insights to inform improved policy and practical reforms.
