Kelvin Fafanyo

Kelvin is a passionate natural resources manager and rising advocate for climate-smart fisheries and aquatic ecosystem conservation. Holding a First-Class BSc in Natural Resources Management (Fisheries and Watershed Management) from KNUST, Kelvin currently serves as a Teaching and Research Assistant, mentoring over 20 undergraduate students, supervising wet-lab research, and coordinating semester-long ecological and fisheries field projects. As a Research Volunteer with Eco-Me Africa and Greenlead, he supports conservation projects across Ghana through scientific reporting, community engagement and environmental education.

As an emerging science communicator, Kelvin has presented his work at Aquaculture Ghana 2024 and the 11th International Conference on Fisheries andAquaculture 2024. He recently served as a student abstract judge for Aquaculture 2025 in New Orleans and has co-authored a peer-reviewed article. Kelvin believes that research must extend beyond the lab and into public and policy spheres to drive real-world impact. Following this commitment, he created the newsletter “The Sustainable Scoop” where he writes and publishes on important topics, projects, and events in the blue economy. He is committed to translating complex scientific findings into actionable insights for communities, stakeholders and decision-makers. As the Communications Co-lead at Blue Economy Connect, he brings not only a deep understanding of aquatic systems but also a strong belief in the power of communication to shape sustainable futures.
