Goddey Atitsogbui
Goddey draws his earliest inspiration from growing up in a small coastal village in Ghana, where blue resources were central to his community’s livelihood. He holds a Master’s degree in Aquaculture and Marine Resources Management from Wageningen University in the Netherlands, where he contributed to the Environmental Policy Group’s AGI Project and co-led baseline assessments for three African countries. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management (Fisheries & Watershed Management major) from KNUST in Ghana. Goddey contributes to the UN Ocean Decade ECOP Programme as a member of the Mentoring & Training Team, where he supports global training efforts & moderates webinars reaching over 100 young ocean professionals. Previously, he worked as a Consultant with the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (Netherlands), where he helped deliver sustainability assessments for new species, and interned with the UN Economic Commission for Europe (Switzerland), supporting the works of the Water Convention and the Protocol on Water & Health.
His combined experience across diverse blue economy sectors, alongside his strong passion for youth empowerment and sustainable development in Ghana and the Global South, led him to pioneer the Blue Economy Connect initiative. Goddey believes innovations would flow, shifting the blue economy when young minds connect, and are given the tools and trust.
