Co-founder & CTO
Wilfred Agbi
Wilfred’s passion for the blue economy stems from his early exposure to agriculture and aquatic systems during vacation visits to his family’s farm in the Volta Region. Raised in an urban neighbourhood in Accra, he developed a fascination with food production and natural resource sustainability, which later evolved into a lifelong commitment to aquaculture and integrated farming. Wilfred holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources Management (Fisheries & Watershed Management) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana, and a Diploma in Agronomy and Crop Science from Rupin College in Israel under the AgroStudies program.
Wilfred has supported over 2,000 smallholder farmers through technical training and agribusiness consultancy, championing sustainable aquaculture practices across Ghana. His professional journey includes roles as a Technical Sales Manager at Cycle Farms Ghana Limited, Operations Manager at Weija Farms, and Aquaculture Technician at Pill Brooks Aquatic. He also served as a Research and Teaching Assistant at KNUST, contributing to academic research and student mentorship in fisheries science.
As Co-founder and CTO of Blue Economy Connect, Wilfred leverages his experience in fish farming systems, water quality management, and circular agriculture to co-design youth empowerment programs and promote sustainable livelihoods. His leadership is instrumental in integrating technology and grassroots knowledge to transform traditional aquaculture into resilient and inclusive blue economy models.
Wilfred’s work is grounded in his belief that the future of the blue economy lies in youth-led innovation, practical skills transfer, and collaborative problem-solving. He is committed to reshaping how communities in Ghana and the Global South engage with aquatic resources—for food security, economic empowerment, and ecological restoration.
