David Djangmah Tawiah

Environmental & Community Impact Co-lead

David is a coastal-born environmental advocate and community development practitioner passionate about restoring ecosystems and building climate-resilient livelihoods. Growing up in a coastal community in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, David witnessed first-hand the challenges that environmental degradation and limited economic opportunities pose to smallholder farmers and fisherfolk due to environmental degradation and limited economic and livelihood opportunities, an experience that continue to shape his work today.

He holds a BSc. in Natural Resources Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), with a major in Silviculture and Forest Management, which deepened his commitment to sustainable land, forest, and marine resource management.

David currently serves as Co-Lead of the Environmental and Community Impact Team at Blue Economy Connect, where he supports grassroots solutions at the intersection of ocean health, climate action, and community resilience. He also works with the Indigenous People Alliance Ghana as a Project Coordinator, advancing initiatives that center indigenous knowledge, environmental justice, climate action, and inclusive development.

Previously, he served as a Programs Officer with the Institute for Sustainable Energy and Environmental Solutions (ISEES), contributing to clean energy access, climate adaptation, and natural resource governance across Ghana.

At Compassion International Ghana, David supports child and youth development programs with a strong focus on child protection, environmental stewardship and sustainability education. He is also the founder of Amoma Hives, a social enterprise that equips smallholder farmers and youth with sustainable beekeeping skills for improved livelihoods, and Ruban Heritage Tours, which blends eco-tourism with cultural heritage and community impact.

With a unique blend of grassroots experience, technical knowledge, and a deep personal connection to both land and sea, David is committed to building thriving communities by connecting people, purpose, and the planet.
